About us
1947
The family story starts with a neighborhood pawnshop in Harlem, trading in watches, jewelry, diamonds and precious metals and all sorts of personal treasures. The store later moves to midtown where it is a great success.
1978
After 31 years in Manhattan, the business moves to Fort Lee, NJ and operates out of a private office.
1984
We decide to plunge back into storefront and Palisade Jewelers opens on Main Street in Fort Lee. Our timing turns out to be fortunate, and our reputation grows as pioneers of the “pre-owned” watch market.
1989
Ron joins the business. We are featured throughout the region on sports, talk and newsradio as well as in many of the area’s major newspapers (NY Times, Wall St. Journal, Star Ledger).
2005
We move Palisade Jewelers Englewood NJ, NJ (Ron’s hometown and closer to home). We continue to support the community we love and our causes include Family Promise, Bergen Family Center, Women’s Rights Information Center, The Community Chest, the Bergen Performing Arts Center, JCC on the Palisades and the Jewish Home at Rockleigh.
Regularly heard on sports radio WFAN since its genesis, we host Michael Kay to broadcast from the store during the first year of his new show on ESPN Radio.
2007
We launch our store on eBay bringing the same level of personal attention found in the store onto the site. We reach customers across the US and around the world, shipping to (almost) every continent. (No orders from Antarctica yet). We’re now a neighborhood store with an international following.
2009
As the price of gold rises, Palisade is recognized as one of the region’s top precious metals buyers. We brought legendary radio personality Joan Hamburg to Englewood on several occasions for standing room only events.
Present
Our family continues to take pride in our solid reputation, loyal following and attentive customer service. Offering our services in store, online and by phone, we continue to grow as the area’s premier pre-owned watch and jewelry boutique and upscale place to pawn.
